To create the life we want, we have to look within.

My journey

Jessica Thompson, LCSW

THERAPIST

After over a decade in California, I’ve returned to the East Coast with a mission to show up as the fullest version of myself yet. I’m viewing this as an opportunity to create a therapy practice that unites the best of both coasts. I’ll be merging CA’s slower pace and emphasis on holistic, introspective wellness with NYC’s direct communication, forward-thinking, and empowered work ethic.

My own healing journey is what allows me to be the therapist I am and show up as fully as I do. The reality is, healers have to do their own work first. And it’s an ongoing process, absolutely! When I was in college, I fell into a major depression with panic, general anxiety, insomnia, and dissociation to boot. I had unresolved family trauma that coincided with huge life stressors and transitions and I didn’t know how to handle it. I am also highly emotional, highly sensitive, and an empath—and at the time I had no clue what any of that meant or how to take care of myself. This intense episode forced me to take time off, seek therapy for the first time, and reroute my life. I believe our challenges can help us grow and shape our lives in a positive direction, if we’re willing to face them head on. Although I didn't know it then, that really difficult time in my life led me to a round of deep healing and a desire to help others heal. That’s when I decided to become a therapist.

As I aged and threw myself into new experiences (bi-coastal moves, solo travel, graduate school, partnerships), I continued to find new growing edges. It’s only in the last year that I’ve really been able to see and hold early attachment issues and abandonment fears. That’s absolutely okay. In fact, I’m incredibly proud of myself for getting to this place. I have found that healing comes in cycles and layers. We need to learn to hold and support ourselves every stage of the journey. Giving ourselves compassion, listening to our body and our emotions, and holding space for our hurt parts are the foundation. When we are able to master these lessons, the healing becomes more easeful.

Truly, as I’ve healed I’ve created more space in my life for joy, love, play, spontaneity, self-confidence, creativity, deeply fulfilling relationships & all the good things. Let’s make more space in your life for those good things. You deserve it.
